Hey Wolfshead... better late than never!
You are lucky in that you have all the new experiences waiting... all the firsts and the new found knowledge.  It's going to be an exciting year for ya, no doubt.

Well I trying two different things this year, been reading up a lot on smoking cloths etc for natural cover scent. Will be using this method for a bit to see, both spots I hunt have wood burners around. Another is switching back to wooden arrows after being away for about 4 years,
Good luck to everyone

I'm going to try out my home-made ghillie suit and hunt a little from the ground.

Found a new to me travel corridor that's been right under my nose. I love how sneaky some Bucks can be. I plan on doing more ground hunting this year again, but the hopeful" big Buck spot" will require a tree stand, minimal hunting, and good timing. I'm stoked! Now that I think about it, I have 3 new promising spots to hunt. I'll have less time to hunt this year, but optimistic.

1)Not wait and wait and wait for the perfect shot until all shots are gone.

2)Not pass on big wet does.

3)Sit much stiller for longer times.

4) Not wear Bogs boots and freeze my feet off from the sweat. Wearing leather Irish Setters.

5)Hunt more from my ground blind.

I purchased a couple of Ground Hunter Seats from Big Jim, so my son and I will be hunting from the ground.  The last several years we have hunted from ladder stands and when the deer show they always looks to see if you are there.  It's strange how we can get into a rut of hunting the same way.  With the new seats we will be able to move to adjust to the wind and we will be able to change stand locations without having to move the stand.

Finally really hunt after too long in hospitals and doctor's offices.
I should really have not forgotten that I'm taking my son with me, since in spirit he can be with me anywhere.  I'd never give up those visits, those stays and the times we blasted well moved into the hospital.  He didn't last long enough to get to introduce to the bow, but now his spirit will be with me, most likely pulling on my fletching because it looks edible.  Everything was something to chew for him, and I wouldn't begrudge my arrows some slobber in the field.  Might make them fly better.

halfseminole, My God give you and yours peace and harmony. Very best of luck to your season.
