Alright South Carolina people. I have really been enjoying these Mississippi hunt threads the last couple couple of years, and figured I would see would we can do.

As our low country season just opened, let's start giving some feedback as to how things are going and provide plenty of pictures along the way!

I hope everyone has a safe and meaningful experience  this fall, and look forward to hearing about it!

Lean in, pick a spot, and follow through!

TradBrewSC

I'll start it off.

I have had cameras out for about two months now and things have been pretty sporadic. But for about a week now we have had consistent morning movement  from 7-8.

I have been following two specific mature bucks but they are still fairly nocturnal.

We are however seeing some cull deer in day light recently so that is primarily what I have been targeting until does come in September 15th.

Weather on the 10 day looks very hot, so I may be staying out of there for a while.

Hopefully someone else has had some success because all I have seen is a few does.

I did take an opening morning "selfie" which really is not like me but I will share anyways.

Heading out in the morning. Wish me luck.

Good thread Tradbrew but it might be a month or two before I get out there in this heat.    :knothead:

Hunted first 2 days of season, does, fawns and small velvet bucks, big boys not moving yet in daylight.
shoot straight shoot often

TradBrewSC

Yeah I typically hunt this first weekend, and then take it fairly easy until that first frost.

The two bucks I'm chasing have only showed themselves in daylight twice in the past two months I have had cameras out..

Looks like the 100 degree days we have coming up this week won't help much. I definitely won't be sitting!

I have seen a few nice velvet bucks killed my wheelie bow guys so far though.

tippit

Go get 'em...I'll be down in Nov to help out.  Got a new lease to try out near the head of the Ashley river.

I had some luck the other weekend when the cold front came through, it cooled down to 85!   :goldtooth:

If Jeff (Tippit) is very nice to me, I might show him where this guy is hanging out!

Good job Benjy!

I'm back in the stand for the first time since opening weekend and wow it's humid!

I also had a scare opening weekend. I was bitten  by a deer tick that a week later left me very I'll for a week. It felt like the flu  on steroids. Lymes tests came back negiative, but have to go back in a month to get tested as it can often come back false positive. We will see! Prob just a bacterial infection from the bite so I'm told..

Good luck guys and watch out for those crawlers!

Nice shooting Benjy. A great way to start the season.   :clapper:

Congrats Benjy! Maybe the cold front this weekend will cool it down enough to get in the stand again.

MCNSC

Congrats Benjy. I haven't even been scouting yet, I think it's a combination of age, 2nd shift and this heat. Have planted a few food plots, it's really the first time to plant any food plots. I guess we will see how that goes. Hope to do a little scouting on Monday, supposed to be a little cooler then. Hopefully after the 15th will get after them.

I have not been hunting since shooting that deer. I have been getting ready for gator season. I have a tradgang friend that drew a tag. I went to my lease today to see if I have any pig sign. I guess the heat is not getting to the piggies!

Anyone else chasing gators?

Too hot for me. Here in Leesville it's not been under 90, except during a rain, for a few weeks now. Just don't like sitting in a stand or a blind and feeling sweat run down the back...
