Brother Andy redeems himself this morning.....(sort of)......
So today we wake up to a WNW wind and Andy says he is going back to the "rabbit hole". He gets settled in vowing to take his time and make his shot count if presented with one today. Right on cue around 7:00 a buck walks into the pond but it is still to dark to pick a spot so he is patient as the buck mills around making a scrape and rubbing on branches less than ten yards away.  The buck then turns around and leaves and comes back in a few minutes later. His raccoon friends from yesterday also return and one decides to visit the foot of his blind making Andy a little nervous. The other 3 coons go to the water making the deer nervous, so everybody ends up a little tense as the shot presents itself.  Andy makes his shot with a complete pass through and can see his bloody arrow laying near the water. Around 9 I arrive to find a very bloody but stinky arrow. Not what he wanted to hear and said he was done for the week if he couldn't make a killing shot that close. I assured him we would find this deer but it would take some time. So we backed out and took care of some other things to pass the time......Henry

Andy must be playing around by the little pond just east of the tractor, sweet spot. More please!

About 12:30 we decide to head out to find "his"buck, Andy's confidence is in the gutter at this point. We shot a few targets this morning and he was right on, but as we all know when a deer is close our nerves are tested. Anyway we have decent blood to follow and continue on the trail for a couple hundred yards. At one point he actually crossed the blood trail from yesterday and got into some pines. Try finding a drip of blood in pine needles and dirt, but we got it unraveled. We were getting into some thick stuff and I look up and see the buck in his bed less than twenty yards away. Head up looking at me but not trying to get up to leave, so another arrow on its way sends him up the hill to another bed. We leave him for a bit and sneek in with a finishing shot. Crazy story I know but in the end we recovered his deer and Andy feels much better as do all of us. Andy is shooting a Bob Lee 62" 48# recurve and cedar arrows tipped with Zephyr two blade BH's.

Yes Mike that is exactly where he is at! Pretty neat buck he got with a broken left side that hangs down along his face and velvet still hanging on the bottom like a drop tine. This will be Andy's only opportunity to hunt all year since he moved to TX and doesn't get to hunt with me back home anymore. Super excited for him and proud of him for sticking with it through the ups and downs!! Henry

A couple of dz. Chigger bites isn't even worth mentioning. Wait until you have em from your neck down to your toes were every bite is touching the one beside it. You scratch em in your sleep til they bleed!!!

Great job on the Deer hunting everyone!!

Last evening hunt here at Kenny's as we are going to sit tomorrow morning and then be headed home after noon. Hopefully I will have another success story before we go. The weather has been great and we have had a really good time. Here are a few pics that I took yesterday and today in an area I found and seemed to like. This is a large scrape that you can smell from several yards and should be watched in the future.

This was interesting as there was 2 coons who wanted my tree
