Just arrived at the cabin in MO. I will try and keep you all posted how are hunt goes here at the lease. Three of us drove in from MN today and my brother will be arriving from TX later this afternoon. Myself (Henry) my friend and business partner (Chris) our mentor (Mike) and my younger brother (Andy) will all be hunting this week and hope to fill a couple tags.

If its still hot....they will be bedding on the north side of the wood edges in the tall grass....plenty of shade and 20 degrees cooler......

Be careful stepping out of the shower in the cabin....the floor is like ice with a little moisture on it....don't ask how I know    :biglaugh:     Lets just say I forgot to wear my harness...

Good luck and don't second guess Kenny...he knows his stuff!

Mitch, sorry I missed you! lol
Thanks for all the good luck wishes they worked!! Deer hanging in the big oak already..... I will get some pics up later but quick story first. Headed to the south farm to the "observation" ladder stand. I got settled in by 5:30 and just had that feeling! That stand just seems to be in the right spot! Anyway I was enjoying the evening with a few turkeys spotted and some deer moving. About 6:15 or so I hear movement behind me and peek over my shoulder to see a doe sneeking in to grab some milo. She takes her time getting in front of me but is finally broadside at less than ten yards and I pick my spot shoot and watch her go down. Shot her with my Bob Lee Hunter which is 54" and 51# with a 1920 Easton tipped with a 145 grain snuffer. The shot entered high behind her shoulder and got one lung center punched her heart and broke the offside shoulder and put her down quick. Very excited to get one on the first night!!..........Henry

Henry made a super shot on the doe. He said she blew past an 8 point when she ran, he hadn't noticed the buck because he was so locked on the doe!

They are hanging some stands now, I expect to see some blood tonite!

The farmer started cutting milo this AM, so if they hunt the back at the gap or there abouts, the combine may cause the deer to ease that direction around hunt time!
Stay sharp, Kenny.
