Does anyone use Zwickey 2 blade 175gn? Likes? Dislikes?

S.C. Hunter

I have a friend who has used the Zwickey 2 blade head for over 30 years now. He loves those heads. I tried them and like them also. He just touches them up with a file and has never had a issue with it being sharp enough. He has two on his wall one stuck in a section of spine half way through and one stuck in a shoulder joint almost completely buried.

All of the Zwicks are great broadheads.Extremely tough lethal broadheads.Always have been.

They have been around for a LONG time.....for a reason.

And, they are built better now than then.

After the success I've had with them for 30 years, I have nothing to dislike.

Maybe someone here can recall the story better than me...but some guy back in the 60s or 70a shot at a polar bear and didn't realize that another one had walked up beside it on the other side....and his Z Delta killed them both.

Anyone here remember who it was?

I will agree with Terry they are a great head. I have never had any problems with them at all. When a head has been around as long as zwickeys you know it's got to be good.

We will be having Jack Zwickey speak at the Wisconsin Traditional Archers annual banquet in February.  Jack started working with his father, Cliff, in 1940 when Jack was 12 years old.  So the Zwickeys have been in broadheads for a long time.  I'm looking forward to hearing this one.

If I get the chance, I'll see if I can ask Jack about the polar bear story.

I was thinking of filming.  I will ask our speaker coordinator if there is any problem with filming.  I don't think there will be.

Answer to that trivia question would be "Harry Copeland"...  :archer:

And it was a 4 edge Delta Terry....Now another guy took four goats with one shot! Now what do I win if I'm right? A 6 pack of Delta's would be just fine...            :jumper:

Some things never change...Much...and it's for a reason. When you get it right the first time it doesn't leave much room for improvement.

Zwickey broadheads are probably responsible for more dead animals than any other broadhead made.

The top broadhead in the pic is a 1939 Barbed Zwickey and the bottom broadhead a 2012 Barbed "Cliff" Zwickey. I believe thats 73 years of "getting it done". There are subtle differences in the two heads, but still very much the same.

Hey Trap,

I too use the Cliff Zwicky. Real glad to see that style come back. I bought 2 packs form Jack Zwickey himself last year at Ohio's Deer and Turkey show. Surprised he was there I didn't expect to see or talk to him. You can tell he loves what he does.

All I know is they were Catilina Goats and "ONE verygood shooter"...Do I still win the Zwicky 6 pack? I do know it was a bowhunter does that count?   :D      :dunno:

Been using the Zwickey 2-blade 135 gr Delta for years and years.

Back in the 80's I wrote an article for Doug Walker's magazine re a hunt I'd been on using those Zwickeys and not long after it hit the newsstand, I got a couple of packs of those Zwickeys and a very nice letter in the mail from Jack Zwickey.

I've probably got a couple of those broadheads left and I don't even recall the name of Doug Walker's magazine but the letter meant more to me than anything and I've got it framed and hanging up.

His broadheads are the absolute best and so is he. I still use them.

I took this little 7 point this past fall with the Zwicky "Cliff" 175 grain head...

Terry Lightle

Taking 2 blade Deltas moose hunting in the fall.Asked the guide about my setup and he told me Zwickey Deltas were his first choice.
