BRIARS

Took my first bow kill in 84 or so using a Eskimo. I would like to try the cliffs but not sure it would be legal in OK. Don't think that law has ever been changed here, but in 40 years of hunting I have never had my broadheads checked.

BRIARS

I just checked the OK regs, no mention anymore of "barbed" heads so I may get some of those cliffs in the heaviest grain.

A couple years back I took a few of them to a friend in the metal lab at work to hardness test.
A couple were over 30 yr old, a couple 12-15yr old and a couple 2-3 yr old. They all tested out  at 48-49 on hardness. Pretty impressive quality controll controll over three decades.

The problem with all of the Zwickey broadheads is if one wants a slightly better blood trail pick the four blade models,(we have never had a problem with blood trails with the two blades), if one has enough power one can pick the Delta,(a 40 hill longbow will put a Delta staight through an Iowa buck), or if one likes having arrows that can be sharpened easily, the problem is they all work.  The only reason not to use a Zwickey is if you just want to change things up a bit or if you want something heavier than a Delta on a wood shaft. We went away from them just to change things up, but bit by bit they are once again becoming the families most used broadhead.  What are we going to do if we are not constantly experimenting with broadheads? Go hunting I guess.

Shot my last deer this season with a Delta 2-blade.  Didn't make a great hit (due to the deer ducking and spinning on the shot) but had a heavy blood trail and a very dead deer at the end of it.  They fly great, sharpen easy and do the job.  They're a classic for a reason.

I use a 2 blade delta it's a great head and I don't see any reason to change.

Thanks for everyone's input, I think I made a good choice.

Nate Steen .

If you want to make them a little heavier...do like me...drop a bullet nose lead fishing weight into the ferrule, cut the arrow ferrule a little shorter and bingo...a 165-175 grain eskimo

Hey now were talking.Thats a good way to do it Sunset. I once shot a big mulie right in the brain with aDelta 4 Blade.Dropped him in his tracks. Was so excited I shot him in the lungs the second time, problem was it was with my judo.Fortunately,he wasnt getting up.Arrow penetrated through the skull between the earand his antler into the brain cavity and it was over.Like a dummy ,when I sawed it open,I should have kept it in tact for memory sake. The other one is that it was suppose to be a lung shot.No matters, hes hanging out in the shop.I guess Id rather be lucky than good still.Cant beat a Zwicky!

I just got a pack of six for Christmas. I've never taken a big game animal with a trad bow but I hope to this fall. I'll be using the 135 grain Zwickys. They just look "bad ass" too! Does anyone on here sharpen them with the Tru angle file/hone system?

I gotcha Keefer....that's cool....and a TRUE testament to the WIDE DOUBLE BEVEL broadhead.

I'd be willing to bet that, even with a performance feat such as that from the head,  that the guy that did that don't even shoot them anymore.

OK....if I'm right....do I win a Pack?        :D

About this free pack you keep asking about....if you want one....I'll send ya one....just email me your address....no kidding...just email me.

I killed a lot of critters with 2 blade Zwickey Delta's.  Great heads for sure.

I have shot my animals using Grizzlys, but I will tell you this. I carried the Deltas in my quiver this year and I did a follow up shot on a buck this past season and was impressed not only with the penetration but the blood it had left behind. I realize I have "limited" experience with them In The field, so take it as you may. I plan on using the Zwickys  exclusively this year based on what I saw on that buck I had shot with one. They do fly fantastic as well

Not wanting to steal this thread. Do you guys have much faith in the 4 blade eskimo on hogs or anything else as far as that goes?

And, they are built better now than then.

After the success I've had with them for 30 years, I have nothing to dislike.
