A lot of planning went into this first hunt in a stand for Cade...

We got in plenty early, and before it was even light, he'd fallen asleep...don't worry he was strapped in!

Just when it was barely light enough to see outlines against the ground, a buck came in right under us. I woke Cade up, and even though it was pretty dark, he got his sleepy eys focused enough to make it out.

I looked through my Leica's and could make out a small basket with 7-8pts.  He walked away.

Cade was struggling staying awake...
•

I did all I could to keep him awake and interested...
•

Harry Potter...
•

Really nice looking spot...

•

Boo!
•

Roughin' it...
•

Playing with dad's camera...

More coming....

Proud papa...
•

Time to get down...
•

Going to retreive my practice shot I always take before I get down...
•

He didn't know I was taking pix. Practicing his swing with my arrow...
•
•

Our set-up, a ladder stand with rail for him, and a hang on for me to shoot out of. Worked out great. but we only saw the one buck real early...
•

A morning either us will forget...
•

An example of the sign around us...

Looks like a great time in the autumn deer woods.

Time to strip down. Teaching him right off the bat the importance of scent control. We never wear our cloths or boots anywhere but the woods. He has an unscented cloths bin just like I do for all his cloths, harness, and pack...
•

Heading back in for the evening hunt...
•
•

Think he was comfortable?
•

A turkey feather he found on the way in...
•

Nintendo DS time...
•

He inherited my old Pentex bino's...
•

We didn't see a thing in the afternoon(75 deg. when we walked in), but we sure had a great time. Hard for me to capture in words what this day meant to me... A lot of good times ahead for us

Cool, Curt.

Will he be running the video camera for you when the shot happens?

Good on ya brother! I cherish my time with my son in the woods more than anything! Those DS's are a great way for them to pass the time!
