Man I don't know if there is any sound worse than BOOM... maybe the wife telling me to come out of the shop??? Nawwww! Bummer Broketooth hope the next one is smooth sailing.

Rudy, you have to give wood lots of time to rehydrate before stressing it after tempering. You need to have 4 or 5 bows going at once so you can put that one aside and go work on another! d;^)
Sorry you lost her. Grab another hickory stave and get back at it!

Pat is 3 week long enough? Mine has been sitting for about 3 weeks since I last heated mine. Is it safe to start tillering or should I wait longer.

SportHunter

I think you should be fine Kelly. From everything I've read a week should usually be good for rehydration. I'm sure a few more will chime in on this.

Walt Francis

Ruddy, not much we can say that will make you feel better other then I know the feeling:

Mine before the 67th arrow

After the 67th arrow:

The broadhead used, regardless of how sharp, is nowhere as important as being able to place it in the correct spot.

Oh, man, Walt! That hurts. I wasn't so affectionate toward snake skins until my trade bow from Keenan last year, but seeing that really hurts now!
Any hope of salvaging those skins?  :(

Walt I been there and done that    :banghead:   I have broke more wood than made shooters. It's a bummer but a great excuse to build another one.

I always try to learn from every one if I can.

It always hurts my feelings to see one break.  I know you get to build another one but.......still.

27@55lbs. Target is 40-50@27. I hope to come in on the higher end after sanding and shooting her in.

Pat B

Citycop, take the clamp and level off and draw it again. You might be getting a false reading of tiller with the handle clamped to the tree.
Your tiller looks good as it is in the pic.

Thanks guys. Pat I checked it without the level and clamp it looked the same. Thanks for the tip.
