Curt has an awesome thread goin, and i dont wanna take any of his thunder(or even attempt to)! Ok, we all know where a turkeys vitals are, and how small they are! It only makes sense to shoot as large as head as possible, as anyone who has hunted turkeys knows they rarely stand still for long and the chances of being off the mark by 2" is a reality! I know alot of bowhunters, me included who like the larger, steroid size broadheads for turkeys, snuffers, magnusI, simmons sharks, for their cutting swaths! Any head will do, but it almost seems foolish to shoot the narrower style heads like stos or grizzly! I like a head that cuts at least 1 1/4", but thats just me, what do the rest of you prefer?

The only turkey I've taken with my longbow has been with a Sasquatch head....and I was thankful for all that width even on a Texas heart shot.

I bought a whole bunch of Dead heads off of the auction site a few years back.  They are real nice, but I still prefer a Zwicky Delta 4 blade.

I will be using the Ace Express 165 for all my endeavors this year! Itll be my first turkey hunt with a 2 blade, im not too worried though! In the past ive had great success with the Zwickey Delta 4 blade and the 160 Snuffer, both throw turkeys for loop!

Shot my last turkey with the old Bear razorhead with the bleeder blade installed.  He only went about 15 yards.

Big Jim 'Big 3' ..1.5".. 3 Blade... 300 gns

While it has only an ~3% higher slash factor than the the large snuffers, an easy 400 gns up front was necessary for me to meet my objective for my desired arrow design. The Big 3's fly wonderfully. Should be powerful turkey medicine.

Reference 'Back from Magersfontein in RSA' in the Dangereous Game forum to gather some insite w/regards to the lethality and big holes the Big 3 delivers.

Note: Snuffers have also served me well in the past. Just from my observation... By switching to the Big 3's- there is no more whistle, seemingly better flight and more penetration. The snuffers consistantly averaged over 1.0" less penetration when using my 18 in 1 Rhinehart. I attribute lower pentration do to the foam hanging up in the vents. The vents typically have to be cleared and often times there are big chunks wedged-in. This observation implies to me that vented blades could impede penetration loss in game in certain situations.

Like my 160 grain Snuffers for turkeys.

I'll second Huntrdfk having good results with Snuffers. Todd

This will be my first year chasing turkeys with the longbow.  I'll use the same heads that I use on whitetails, 160gr snuffers.

I used the muzzy phantom four blade when I took my merriam at Fred Eichlers place. The bird jumped up in the air and came down dead. Lee, the guide said that was the quickest kill he had seen with a bow. The 4 blade phamtom sure has a lot of cutting area and I was glade I used it.
