Well done!  Did you call him in, or was it a chance encounter?
No, I didn't call him in....at least not this one. I do call them in all winter and hunt for them intentionally, but this one was traveling through the area like they do routinely and caught a opposum right down the hill from me. He ate what he could then grabbed a mouthfull and headed up the hill right straight to me to bury it. When he stopped at about 15 steps and started to dig a hole I was already at full draw. Needless to say he didn't get the job done, but I sure did. I know it was a opposum that he was carrying because when I went to investigate what he had dropped, it still had the opposum's tail attached to it. I had no idea they would eat those? Learn something new after 26+ years of bowhunting.....nature never ceases to amaze me.

Bjorn- I'm assuming you are referring to the turkey as the toughest game animal to bag with a stick bow? That would be my #1 toughest on the list, because it seems like even if they are looking straight away they can still see you move.

I just got back from my hunting property up north Missouri today, and I got a shot at yet Another coyote yesterday morning! This time I shaved hair off it's back.......that makes 4 shots at coyotes this bow season, with one kill and all misses were high. I think I must be having a bit of a hard time judging yardage on them because of their size and they seem to look further away than they really are?

It's kind of unbelievable that I went 26+ years of bow hunting without getting a shot oppurtunity at a coyote and now I get 4 shot opps in one season on 2 completely different tracts of property?   :dunno:
Man, I must be a coyote magnet this year!
