For those who have asked.....I just skinned it out this morning about an hour ago. I'm going to try my hand at tanning, something I have never done before.
Incidentally, that 125gr. Magnus Snuffer punched straight through the shoulder on the left side and exited low just behind the leg on the opposite side......it was a definite heart shot. Yeah I know what your thinking......sometimes I do get lucky.   :goldtooth:

Congrats!  I'd love to get within bow range of one of those.  I used to see alot while living out west, but since the move back to Ohio, I haven't seen as many.

What do you have on the limbs of your bow?  I'm looking for something like that for my Grizzly too to protect the limbs while hunting.

I call them limb socks, I made them out of the sleeves from an old long sleeve camo Tshirt. I cut the sleeves off to the correct length and my mother did the sewing. They work great for covering up the shine and also protect from scratches, bumps, and dings.....they are also 100% cotton and machine washable.
I couldn't find anything like that on the market and didn't like the idea of putting any of those stick on kind on my bow limbs, so I made my own.

Thanks for the reply.  I'll have to go through all my old hunting clothes to see what I have.

Nice shot, keep wacking those song dogs.

A great trophy!  You should skin it and have it tanned--hang it on the wall.  If you can't do that get a taxidermist to clean the skull for you--they look really cool and are a fun trophy to put in the house

That's exactly what I am going to do. I skinned the critter this morning and the hide is in the freezer. I'm going to haul the carcass out to the pasture and let nature do it's dirty work, then when it's somewhat cleaned up a bit I'm going to finish the skull. I've got 2 others out there that I'm going to do the same with.

Just curious. How far did he run after the hit? I know there tough critters.

SEMO_HUNTER

Less than 20 yards, from hit to dead was less than 3 seconds I would guess?
Those Snuffers are truly bad to the bone IMO.
Of course, an animal can't survive long with a hole through the heart the size of a half dollar, not bragging because I just got lucky on the heart shot, but I did put it exactly where I wanted to and that was straight through the shoulder....the heart hit was just a bonus.

Well done!  Did you call him in, or was it a chance encounter?
