Wow, I just got on here. This is a little embarrassing! Thank you one and all for your wishes and kind comments. You know, while I was dragging out that doe yesterday, I realized how blessed I've been for so many decades, Barry and I finding our life's passion early enough to absorb things for so many years. The Lord on knows how many arrows I've released at whitetails, but its great to feel just as much excitement now as I expeienced half a century ago. It was a beautiful clear morning in the 40's with a slight but steady breeze. It was the first time I sat the stand in a big white oak. She came through alone, stopped broadside at 15 yards and looked the other way. For those into specs, I shot her with my 56# Morrison and one of the unvented 250 grain Woodsman heads. The arrow passed clean through her chest, even through the off side shoulder blade before sticking in the ground. She made it about 35 yards. I counted six seconds until I heard the crash. Easy drag on level ground (which I appreciate these days). I delivered her to my meat guy still warm. In a world where bowhunting has become a little too much of an industry and too many people have a hard time differentiating love from lust, its heart warming to belong to a group of like minded folks who visit this great site and bowhunt for all the right reasons. I didn't know it was your birthday till Steve told me. Its good to see you using your retirement well. I thought about sending you a pair of size 13 Schnee boots for your birthday but Steve wanted them back. Oh well, maybe I can find something else of his to send you. Have a great day, The Beaner!!
