There may be a few bumps in the road but stick with it and you will never regret it. Welcome to the gang, good luck and good shooting!  

Hang in there and enjoy the shooting , you can do anything with the stickbow that you could  do with a compund . Friends tried to tell me other wise but I keep proving them wrong year after year .

I can't go a but a few days without loosing some arrows.  This site helps me get over the in between days.

Once you get the basics down; begin learning to trust yourself; don't out think your instinct.  If you think about missing you probably will.  Go to some 3D shoots to begin for the varied distance and terrain practice.
