Thanks for all the encouragement. DB228 is a specific area of the Island that I can hunt. Its an area that was the highest odds of drawing but is also easiest to access. Easy access means that I will share the area with other hunters. There was only 7 resident tags drawn and I was one of them. Even tho it does get some traffic from deer hunters and bear hunters they usual take a few bears in this area every year. Its not an area that statistically produces big skulls but there is always a chance at a 28 inch skull if thats what your into. There is a salmon run in the river that I will be hunting. Even though it is late in the season and most all the salmon have spawned out there usually a few left. I'm hoping there is anyway, that would help a lot in locating a bear.
There is a bison herd in the area also. It is a privately owned herd but no fences. They can roam anywhere and everywhere they so choose. If the price is right there may be a buffalo hunt in conjunction with the bear hunt. We will see.
Cheers   :)

Congradulations on drawing the tag!!

Regardless of the area enjoy the adventure.

As others mentioned pick a trusted backup and don't forget to file that front sight off your Pistol!
