Scared the yell outta me!
I never get phone calls, and the voice was strange and used the name that Mom always called me when she was mad and wanted to beat my butt.
The one with the scary voice was Jim Neaves, and he has my riser milled already.

He also said that he will cut out the limb pieces-parts and get them all put together, and call me when it's done. Well, actually, he got all technical and stuff, and I tried to sound intelligent, but my brain was dancing like Snoopy in my skull.

He said that it should take about a week. I have a strange feeling that time is going to act a little differently now. And of course, I don't really expect it to only take a week. What's a week? I put in the deposit in February of 2008. That's been a while...I can barely remember February of this year. I did remember the expected completion date, May of 2009. Fourteen months. How the heck does anybody have the chutzpah to assume that they will even be alive in fourteen months? Don't people know what pitfalls are out there? Oh, that's right, we ignore them, and pretend that we will live forever. Shhh!

So I put on the bright face of confident, positive optimism and charged on ahead.
And ya know what? It worked!!
Shhhh!   ;)

Killdeer~ I can do a week standing on my NOSE!
Long, long afterward, in an oak I found the arrow, still unbroke;
And the song, from beginning to end, I found again in the heart of a friend.

nice...like Terry said that will make a Beautiful bow.

That is an incredible piece of curly koa, Frogster.
I lived in Hawaii when I was little, and some of my most vivid memories are from there. Koa is a very special wood to Hawaiians, and I wanted to carry the sharpness of awareness that I had as a child every time I carried this bow in the woods. The koa will connect me.

Archery, like photography, carries me full circle from where I am, middle-aged and a tad cynical, to where I was as a child, exploring and learning, with the wide open eyes and heart that gather everything, and regard them as special. I guess it's not just a bow, eh?

Good for you Killie, you have alot more patience than I do. But you know what they say, " Good things come to those that wait." That is a beautiful piece of wood. I can't wait to see what Jim does with it!   :saywhat:

Thanks for showing us your curly koa. I have limbs being made for my Zipper SXT from a sassafras tree that was cut over 10 years ago on the property where I shot my largest trad buck. It has to have mojo!

That piece of wood is pretty enough to exist just as a piece of wood.  I'd set it on a slelf and take it down just to look at it now and again.  When it is made into a bow... I will covet it!  Can't wait to see it.

Killie you make every thing so fun:
"I tried to sound intelligent, but my brain was dancing like Snoopy in my skull."

I feel it is my job to keep on encouraging you to write.  You could still play with your bows.

Cant wait to see your bow!! By the looks of the Koa, its gonna be a knock out!!
