That curly koa will make a beautiful bow with special meaning.

Looking forward to pics of the bow.

That piece of wood is so pretty it almost doesn't look real, that will make a sweet weapon.

Long, long afterward, in an oak I found the arrow, still unbroke;
And the song, from beginning to end, I found again in the heart of a friend.

drop dead gorgeous wood!  koa is much prized, and makes for exceptional guitars, ancient hawaiian olo surfboards ... and knife handles, too!

Killie, I feel your excitment!  I got MY call from Jim a week and a few days ago.....

And guess what was on my porch today!

I won't hijack your thread, but you'll have to post your serial number.

That is one fine piece of koa!

That's right! You get to see if your bow has arrived by looking through the mail! No fair! Well I guess there are benefits to some jobs.
Truly a great reflection that bow will bring to you as you walk the woods with child's eyes but with a hunters heart. Good for you. We should never fully grow up!
Isaiah 49:2...he made me a polished arrow and concealed me in his quiver.

Thanks, snaggle.
This bow will come from a different PO...I work more than twenty miles from home. Dangit.

The bow will be 56" long, and 46 at my draw length. It's the Elite model, carbon front and back. I did ask for some sheephorn on the tips. I was thinking snakes, but the wood is very busy, and so I decided to see how it looked with just the black facing on the limbs. Koa is the only riser wood, I figured that's all it needs!

I can always skin it later, if I feel the need for camo. Sure was hard to read the addresses on the letters today, with that beam in my eye!

Al...never mind!

Very nice Killy!  I hope it surpasses your expectations and becomes a truly special companion in the woods.  Carry that onto the mountain and show our chestnut oaks what a tree can beome if it aspires to greatness.

I have seen some awesome figure in fallen trees in the Virginia highlands. I don't want to taunt the trees, though. I camp amongst some crotchety old maples. Makes you get downright philosophical when the wind comes up during the night.   :rolleyes:
