Who's still shooting aluminum's?

Diehard here. 2018's have been, and will continue to be my choice. A great shaft. Small diameter, tough as hell, and fly great. No reason to switch.

My son shoots aluminums, I was going to get him some Surewoods, he flat out told me, no. I do much of the time. Mine are 27 bop 1918s, i shoot them out of my low 50s longbows.

I started with aluminum and woodies.I shot them for years.I shoot carbon alot and still shoot carbons.I like thier durability and penetration.I have had good luck with Carbon Express Heritige models.

I still shoot aluminums and when you know what spine you need its very easy to just buy them and shoot them and your good to go.I typically like the smaller diameters for hunting.Like 2020s,2018s and 2016s.The 2020s and 2018s are really nice with thier thicker walls for durability and grain weight for hunting

Nothing beats aluminum arrows for consistency, straightness, ease of setup (vast range of size and spine available) relatively low cost etc. None of this "glue in or on extra stuff" to get to a hunting wt arrow either like with carbon. They have been trying to make carbons as straight and consistent as aluminum for 30 years.... still can't compare.

Just glue on feathers and a nock, cut to length, glue in an adaptor and go.

I killed 2 bucks and a doe this year with 2215's....no complaints at all (from me)! I probably have 20 dozen aluminum arrows and shafts of different sizes laying around here.

To be honest, I haven't shot aluminum since I shot wheelie bows back in the mid 90's. Like most people, I turned to carbon but here in recent months, I have returned to wood. I just feel more in tune with wood.

Well there's a pretty good handful of ya! I've tried to get the carbons to be as consistent as my old aluminums with no success. They are my some super straight carbons, but man are they expensive! I can buy a dozen 2117 for at least 20 bucks less than a half dozen high end carbons. I know guys have great success with em, but I'm all about cheap, consistent, no brainer put some fletching on and go these days. I shot aluminums for several years so I know what works and that's what I'm gonna stick with!

I have shot carbons for a while. But always turn back to alum. they are much easier to tune.

2018's for me! I shoot wood as well and have never bothered messing with carbons. It's funny how some of my carbon buddies refer to my "fat arrows" when shooting 3D. It has helped up my score on occasion!

Started shooting with 2016 and 2018 game getters in 1981.

Now, when I'm shooting alloy, 2117 are
in the quiver!

I shoot aluminum also. XX75 1916's and 2016's both shoot equally well for me with just a point weight change. They are straight and easy to work with and I see no need to consider any other shaft material.

I do...although I have carbons mixed in at times...I routinely look for 2117 super slams and buy them when I find them. Aluminum is just so easy to work with.

I use all three, wood, alum, and carbon. I have ample supplies of all three. But for ease of tuning, ease of pulling from targets aluminums get the nod.

I shoot 2016's from my #50 bows with 125 grain points. Arrows are about 29 inches in length.

I just love the romance of wood but I have to say , it's hard to beat aluminum .

I shoot aluminums 90% of the time. I've done a lot with carbons and heavy weight up front but I'm not impressed. I like trusted aluminums.

I shoot 2317s with two of my bows and 2419s with another.

I prefer aluminum for my regular form practices, stump shooting, small game, and some big game.

I hope I have enough 2419s to last me for the rest of my life (I'm almost 64) because they don't make them anymore.

I also use cedars for big game, especially to economize my 2419s.

I've never tried carbons although I've been given some.

Is there a good place out there to get some of the hard to get sizes, maybe 2219's or 2419's?
