Howard's a good bloke and the best shot, but you've got to take him with a grain of salt at times. It's interesting to read about the horseback bison hunt in Stecher's book.

Wow in that article it says that is arrows shoot 300 FPS. Must be one low gpp.

Whether it's a 300 fps bow or a 1000 pound black bear, this is a great read!  Neat that such a spread appeared in Popular Science magazine.

That Pete George bow is 55#@27"...66" long, bamboo back, and clear through.  Curly maple riser, a bit short for my hand, but then it wasn't built for me... I can shoot it with the same mental instinctive shooting out to about 30 yards and then the arrows arc too much for me to get used to.  I don't want to change my mental computer... :)  so it's just a close range bow.  Rod figures there's less than 2,000 arrows shot through it, or about 20 arrows a day for 3 months....not much at all.

Nate Steen .

Hill was a great shot, as were many guys back then, but he could really shoot when the chips were down.  But the big difference was that Hill knew how to promote himself better than anyone else.

Beautiful bow!!

Wow. Just finished talking to the guys at Howard Hill and my order is already in the mail. How's that for service!

They're sending me a dozen 2016's for this bow (45lbs@28) which I draw to 27 inches. That sounded way stiff to me but I'm guessing they know these bows better than anyone. Sound right to you guys?

That's just awesome stuff, thanks for posting Rob!!!

I agree Hill knew how to promote himself.

Rossco that does sound kinda stiff but shoot it and see what happens. Did they by chance say whether they had already test fired it with said arrows?

Rossco7002

Just called HH again. These are the same arrows Jason shoots out of his bow (same specs as mine) and Craig is positive they're the right ones. That sets my mind at rest some - sure seems stiff though.

It all depends on the point weight. You'll probably need 250 grains up front.

Rossco7002

I'm getting freaked out. I asked for arrows matched to shoot a 125gr broadhead. Them are absolutely positive this is the right set-up.

Rossco-

For that weight bow, I'm would go with 1916's.

That's what I was anticipating too (1916's). I keep telling myself they're gonna know best but it's not working too well.

Just order some heavy inserts and some steel adapters for your broadheads. That bow will like a heavy arrow anyway.

tradlongbow

Rossco i sent you a pm, have Craig send you 1916 and 2016, what ever works keep and send the others back.

Looking at the amount of point weight guys are quoting I could end up shooting 13-14 gpp before I'm tuned - don't want to go that heavy for sure.

Thanks Darren,

The 2016's already en route to Canada with Fedex (pricey). I'll have to wait and see how they perform I guess.

Roscoe if you are cutting the shafts, try 30" then cut down as needed. 3rivers sells 5grain brass washers. I used them before to place behind the broadhead. Darren
