I may not be able to hunt this year with my knee issues but I decide today that I would be ready if it should happen. Touched up the camo on my  Waldrop Pac seat. Mounted some vintage broadheads on some doug-fir arrows and then went to the bow rack. Well, what do I hunt with this year ??? I grab my Zipper ILF that I took a bear with in June, then my RER Arroyo. How about my Kim-Sha that I missed the deer with last year. Oh yea, my Howard Hill Owl what a shooter. Then it happened.......There on the rack is my old friend, my River Runner by Chad Holms. All camo'ed up and not very pretty but I have used this bow for last 5-6 years. I think I should take my old friend out if I get the chance. So, do you have a go to old friend that you always come back to?   :dunno:

Well, I only own one bow so yeah I guess you could say I have a go to bow.  :biglaugh:

My Sarrels Blueridge Takedown longbow is my goto bow. It is the only bow I practice with, and nearly the only bow I hunt with. Has been that way since 2009!

I only have 2 bows now.  I practice with them both interchangeably, and can switch on a lark if I want.  I grab either one, depending on whether I want to shoot 68# or 48# that day.
Life is a whole lot easier when you just plow around the stump.

I mainly shoot my Wing Thunderbird or know a A or B mag Bear, but if anything doesn't work right I'll go back to my Pearson Mercury Marauder TD. It has never let me down.
I would've taken better care of myself,if I'd known I was gonna live this long!

Ron you have an embarrassment of riches with the bows that you own. I will go with my Super K.
What gives me wings? Flying with my arrows over and over again. And never giving up...For giving up means not believing...

I usually make a new one for each season. This year is a three piece longbow. Hopefully I can do my part to get her some action. Best wishes Ron. Don't give up. A nice fat deer would go along nicely with your bear.

I just like a bunch of different stuff. I decided to collect bows that make me happy, I will admit my rack is crowded with some real nice stuff.

My go to bow is my Slammer 3PC. I got a new set of limbs for her this year, which also increased the bow from 62" to 64." The more I shoot it, the more I like it! I also bought a 1965 Kodiak, but I haven't spent enough time with it yet to bond.

Lately its my 1956 Kodak Special 64 in and 53@28. Just can't put it down.

First trad bow I ever ordered keeps calling me. It's A Wes Wallace Mentor, it just fits me!

The last few years, I have always ended up grabbing my Blacktail VL Elite. It always ends up being the most shootable
bow.  It is what I used over a ... Well, don't want to disparage any other makers  creations as I have had a few good ones.  And I suspect in someone else's hand they may have come to bond with one of the other bows.  But so far, the Blacktail is the one for me.

But, (there is always a but) I wanted a heavier bow for a moose hunt, so I ordered a Tall Tines.  It has not disappointed me.  It is a shooter, and will give my Blacktail a run for its money.  So we will see.

Right now its a Big Jim Thunderchild.

Good luck Ron, Let me know when you need me to drag you and the deer out of the woods.
Relax,

I have been shooting a couple of D style longbows with very slight r/d for the last couple years.  Beautiful bows and alot of fun to shoot, but I haven't been satisfied with my groups, so I picked up my trusty ol' Thunderstick Mag, 50@28 and started really stacking arras!  So, looks like the Mag is coming out of retirement this year:O)
