Shot this one while still hunting. To be honest it was more the rut that got him into trouble than my stalking ability.

2009  The story is here on tradgang. I'll see if I can dig it up.

Sorry but I can not seem to figure out how to go back that far. I don't remember the title of the thread.

Ok, here are a couple of mine ...

The rut was a primary cause for the demise of this deer as well.

8 point, my biggest buck to date, out of a natural material ground blind placed in a funnel in a tight, steep sided hollow.

7 yard shot with an osage selfbow I made, chundo arrow with Zwicky delta head, 100 yard recovery.

Great photo! I sold my stands over 7 years ago, hunted on the ground 90% of the time anyway.
I've got my son's climber I am planning to use but this thread may change my mind. LOL
Eric, I see I'm not the only ground hunter from the deep south...dont see many ground hunters down here.

Its been a few years...but feel like Eric earlier.... I am almost too tired to post this anymore

But my greatest memory, my most treasured deer... Was this lil yearling on the ground, using a Torges tree seat... on public land at 5yds at the most... a perfect shot... It jumped to within 3 yds of me after impact... then it went and smelled, then licked the arrow sticking in the dirt.. then turned and walked off.. I had arrow no 2 on the string and Momma froze behind a tree while I was at half draw when it fell... 15 yds later!!! So my almost double... Just needed her to take one more step...

No blind.. no Ghillie... Mossy oak spring turkey camo on the ground with  just standing behind a oak... and the Good Lord shining on me that day!!!!
Expect the best. Prepare for the worst. Capitalize on what comes.
