And here is one of the deer I am targeting this fall, not big enough last year, he is around 160 inch this year.  I had him inside of 15 yards 6 times last year.  This picture was from the last day I hunted last year

You mean it isn't impossible to kill a nice deer from the ground, or at less than 50 yards ?

I was sitting under a root ball of a big fallen tree and shot this one at 12 yards as he drifted by on a little hill by a small stream just in front of me and I was using my Little 56" Hoots recurve!

Looking at all these pictures has me replaying all my close calls. My hunting buddy (Rob W.) and I usually hunt public land. I've had a lot of close calls, but he's closed the deal a few times. I'm having a feeling that this is my year?

The last one was some time ago. Took him just as soon as he won a brawl with another buck. Shot over the Doe's back and took him quartering too. 400 yards tracking job through the junk. I have never taken a shot like that since. I just got caught up in the moment.

Perry I would think that video taping for me would be just as rewarding.    :goldtooth:

Sure thing Rob, I'm a little rusty.  Show me how this season and I'll be ready next year   :biglaugh:    :biglaugh:

Well, wind shifted about 30 minutes before end of day and that shift might have cost a buck from on the ground.  Couldn't see it well enough at about 45 yards and coming, but lots of white tops to it.  Instead of coming straight, he cut across behind and hit the scent stream.  Dang it all.

Try try again

Ttt, I almost got it pulled of last year, was a rush. Gonna try again this year.

Could have done it Tuesday but had the wheel bow, but elected to pass since I was 2 miles from my truck

My second trad kill and my only one from the ground.  Was in a blind with my son Nathan.  I missed the first doe at 25 yards... much to Nate's disappointment... which he expressed with an "aw Dad!"  Luckily a second doe followed and while it wasn't the best placed arrow she didn't last long with a severed windpipe!
