I also seem to see more turkeys during a slight shower(during an absolute storm I tend to get the heck out of dodge.) Almost every turkey with the shotgun I've killed has been either just before or after a storm cell moved through as well.

Yep, in downpours that chase hunters to the house, the turkeys are out in open fields.    :jumper:
Hmmmmm. I know you think you understand what you thought I said, but I'm
not sure that what you heard is what I actually meant!

I've heard turkey gobble like crazy in downpours, it just depends on if they're willing to talk or not. I've also hunted on beautiful mornings without hearing a peep. Best of luck!

Well I've been watching the forcast, and Thur. looks like an all day downpore with a chance of severe thunderstorms, hail and possible tornados...So I think I'll postpone for a day even if they do gobble their heads off during a tornado!  I'm going to stay in my cave I think!

I was cutting wood the other week and as I was loading it up in the wheelbarrow,  the first piece or two of heavy Cherry would make a really loud bang. The neighbors up above have some turkeys in a pen and the one gobbler was sounding off every time a piece of that Cherry hit . Crazy birds.

Biggest bird I ever killed was in a misting rain, he gobbled like crazy. Fields are great during rain or wind, but don't neglect smaller open areas within big woods.

Ha loud thunder will make me gobble!!!!!!!!!!!!!   :biglaugh:

i have seen turkeys in the rain...sprinkling or soft steady rain they will go to a big field where they can see better and feed and congregate.  If it is POURING rain they will head to their roost.

I have had good hunts immediately following gully washers.  I try to hug a big tree in an effort to keep somewhat dry during the downpour.

If you have turkeys in your yard, leave the door open and leave, but don't surprised if they leave a mess.

Seriously, turkeys eat and the weather won't bother them, unless it is stormy. They may feed in protected areas, or stay under trees. Look for scrapes and sign.
