I've been planning this hunt for months, dialing in my new Bear T/D and now the weatherman says is going to rain steady for 3 of my 4 days.  Planned on sitting in a blind some anyway, but if the birds aren't going to be out or won't be able to hear my calling should I bother.  I've got to the end of the month, but rescheduling a new time with my family seems duanting.

The rain will certainly make them quiet.
But they are out eating somewhere.  Sitting a blind in a know area and calling sparingly is about all you can do.

I've seen numerous gobblers in the rain. They are definitely a lot less vocal.  I'm in North Florida,  might be a little different where you are at.

I hunt when I can... rain or shine. Sometimes those light drizzly days are great.

Good luck and keep us posted on how it goes!

They will hit the fields in anything but a downpour. Find a spot they can see your setup or check different fields and slip into a setup using the terrain.
This stuff ain't no rocket surgery science!

Sometimes I feel like they come out more in the rain.

Sure do, thunder will make them gobble.

you can't kill em if you are in the house.

True, staring out the port of my blind will be much more productive then staring out the patio door at home!  Thanks all.

Turkeys will be out in open fields when it is raining. Hunt the field edges in a blind and call sparingly.

I didn't know they had the option to stay in.   ;)

Lots of birds die on drizzly days here in ky.

QuoteDo turkeys come out in the rain?
No.  I think they stay indoors and watch fishing shows on WFN.

Turkey will go to a field when the rain starts!!! Be there!

What do you mean " come out " they don't live in a cave.
They are OUT, 24/7/365, Turkeys will do the same things everyday rain or shine. Now they may not gobble as much, but they will be in the same areas, they still eat, they will still try
To breed a willing hen. They will still respond to "good calling"
But you may have to change calling techniques, but it can be done.
Like someone else said, you can't kill one at home. Give it
A shot, what you got to lose.

This flock was feeding on the birdseed under my wife's bird feeders in a downpour. The rain stopped and they all got on my fence to dry off. They have done that several times. They were so heavy the next time it happened they broke the fence post.

I like hunting them in the rain. They are more predictable as they will go into the open fields. The rain makes lots of noise in the woods and they don't like that. They go to the fields so at least they can see what's coming.

What Rolltidehunter said.  You can take it to the bank that the birds will hit the fields during the rain.  As long as it is not a downpour.

Definitely see more birds out in fields during the rain than at any other times.
