I set up on the ground tonite in a fencerow between the timber they bed in and a standing beanfield. Just after sundown, 2 does crossed thru behind me. Then a doe and fawn appeared right in front of me according to plan.

The doe , sensing a plan apparently, turned and came in the brush with me, deciding to jump the fence about 10 feet from me. After clearing the fence, she stopped about 8 yards from me, quartering away I thought. I was at full draw when she cleared the fence, and swung with her to where she stopped. The arrow went right where I wanted, but as it turned out, she was more broadside than I thought.

The arrow centered her liver we would find later. She took off and I watched her out of sight.

I walked out to the site of impact, instant blood on the snow, so I followed it to another fence which she cleared and went into a large hayfield.

I could see she hadn't went down and had covered at least 200 yds. Not good! So I marked where she went thru fence and went home for 1.5 hours and then came back with bro. She went about a quarter mile on a liver hit with good blood all the way.

Good blood all the way, and she didn't bed til 30 feet from where we found her in another hayfield.

If in doubt- back out!!
Stay sharp, Kenny.
