I will be hunting whitetail this year with a 1959 Bear. I have been wanting to do some still hunting with an old Bear for a few years. This year I intend to only still hunt with that Bear.

Opening day I will have my Dad's 50# Black Bear in hand. This is the first season I've ever started without him. So in his honor I am carrying his bow. Afterwards my '89 55# Kodiak and 45# '75 Kodiak Hunter will accompany me. My son will use his Bear-made (I think) - "Sears" 40# recurve.

Plus there's still time to stumble into another one by the end of the season! I'm hoping for a Grizzly...

Good for you paoliguy. It's nice to use equipment that's :Family".

There are obviously a lot of Bear fans here so I'd like to ask if anyone can tell me the year of my Grizzly?

Serial# KR27656
AMO 56
53lb
Green glass back & face

As a point of interest there is a decal on the top limb that says Charter Member of Fred Bear Sports Club. If some things could talk????

I bought it several years ago off  the bay & really like it. It has some crazing, but I've been told in a PM not to worry about that. I sure don't want to hurt this old bow, but would love to hunt it.   :archer2:
Thanks

I will be useing a 59 grizzly and a 59 Polar. Some cedar arrows and snuffers held in a bear leather top bolt on quiver.I have some new places to hunt this year that look really good so i think i will have a good chance at both deer and hogs.

Frank, I believe your bow is a 1970 Grizzly.  I started with a 1969 of my fathers when I was 12.  Now I have a very similar 1968 that I am using.  those 3 years the grizzly's were made in 56".  Great bows!

70 model bows, the serial # starts with a K.  I would like to see a picture.

I just noticed someone has a 70 grizzy in the classifieds this morning. He has a very nice price on it too. Looks like it would be a great deal for someone looking for a classic bear to hunt with.

I'm going to write that down. I shot it yesterday from 17yds kneeling & bow canted almost paralel to the ground & my shot was 3" left of poa. I was using a 500+gr Split hex wood shaft & Zwicky 2 blade broadhead.
  It is a fun bow.
My computer apple isn't compatable with photo bucket & I'm not reall computer litterate so I can't post pictures at least now
