I have an older Bear Grizzly that's 53lb. I'm thinking about hunting with it some. I shoot it sparingly because it does have some crazing in the limbs & I don't want to ruin it.

I will be hunting with my 50 year old 1963  Kodiak, 50#. Will be using for deer anyway, using a heavier bow for elk.

Maybe we should have a little side gentlemans contest for those using '63 Bears?     ;)        :D        :bigsmyl:
My Michigan bow season doesn't start until Oct. 1 and I don't plan most hunts until later October and November, but maybe we can use this thread to post successes of any '63 kills?
If I'm sitting there with an antlerless tag, a '63 Kodiak or '63 Grizzly and a tender little doe fawn floats by close, an arrow is being sent. LOL

Here's the pics of my new to me 70's Super Grizzly, 50's compressed cedars and Razorheads. The bow is from Pauldeadringer and the heads were generously gifted to me by Mr. Jon Stewart. Thanks guys!

The arrows are restorations from yours truly.

First shots from 25 yards, got a little tweaking to do with the arrows...

Choosing two of three old Bears.  80 green stripe, 78 A Mag or signed Tigercat. All 45#. With early season luck, might hunt with all three.  Bear Razorheads with bleeders. Good luck to all!

I will be using a 1970-ish Grizzly.  A very under rated bow in my opinion.

Well I will be use my go to bow which is an 80s Green striper T/D. I have the newest latest greatest limbs on it that Bear offers, it is 60#s on a B riser. I shoot this bow Daily at 17 and 28 yards, I feel very confident at those ranges, I will be using some of my Bear greenies also. I got to tell you I absolutely love the way this bow feels in my hands,

I might start out the season with my 60" 48@ 28'67 Kodiak Hunter, POC shafts tipped with '60's greenies

Hope to get this 10 yr old A Riser Takedown blooded pretty soon.
It has a slightly modified Bear Tape on Quiver filled with carbons & Woodsmen Broadheads.
It's 60" and 53# at my 29" draw, quiet, and right now I'm driving tacks with it.

It's really simple. Just don't take those borderline shots. Tomorrow is another day.

Yepper. I will be out and about with a 40 year old 50# Kodiak Hunter.

I have an old 1966 kodiak my dad gave me that is my prized boy on my rack.  I would like to take it out a few.times this fall for deer but I am more set on hunting with a 50# bow the kodiak is only 42#.  Not sure if it will get the job done.

Deeter,
It will more thn get the job done. Of my Bears, 42 will be about the highest I hunt with.
Keep in mind that all those low 40lb hunting bows back then were made for a reason.

Frank V

I've put my old Grizzly back into the rotation.   :archer2:
I'd almost forgotten how much fun those Bears are.
