I wanted to share the last photos from my 1st wood carving project. I'm done for now. I don't know if I'll add any more carving to it or not, we'll see if anything cries out to me as we hunt.
Thank you all for the very encouraging comments. I hope other artist's will post some custom work of their own hands too. I see so many very talented people in our community!

Thanks guys! Izzy, I am suprised I havn't heard from anyone when I asked if others offered custom wood carving for trad bows, seems like a natural thing. I can do metal engraving as on my limb bolts too. I may do more of this on my bows till I see where the potential may be. I do love the thought of working on bows. Who knows, perhaps if the right doors opened up I would consider offering wood carving, scrimshaw, metal engraving on bows. The only wood carving I've seen was offered by Dave Windauer from Silver Tips. I see so many talented people here I assumed this was something being offered thru some bowyers already. I talked with Whip and he kinda liked the thought of adding a Bison to his bow. My next bow already has some Elk drawings being worked into it. I want to see if I can get gun style engraving detail into my work. I think the ideas may be limitless?

I carve some walking sticks and a few Santas now and then when my arthritis allows it ....but nothing like that. Very nice job, and this is your first attempt on a bow.....WOW.!!           :notworthy:
In the beginner's mind there are many possibilities. In the expert's there are few...So the most difficult thing is always to keep your beginner's mind...This is also the real secret of the arts: always be a beginner.  Shunryu Suzuki

I did have a chance to see it in person this past weekend Mike, and you are right.  Impressive doesn't begin to describe it!  What a cool way to personalize a bow and make it into a truly heirloom quality piece.
