Beautiful work! Are you taking orders?! Nice job, thanks for sharing. P.S. just kidding about the order thing.

Great work.  You have skilz and guts to take on a beautiful riser and begin to whack on it like that.

D. Key, you have no idea how hard it actually was to layout my design, have a wood cutting tool in my hand and simply start. Imagine you walking over to your favorite recurve, put it in your hands, then try to see your self digging in. I am so glad I did. I enjoyed everything after the pain stricken fear of failure to start. Now my mind is racing and my hands can't keep up with the ideas starting to flow. Poor trees! They are in trouble!

That is really impressive, you're a brave man to take the initial plunge.  Keep us informed of your future works too.

I usually don't like that kind of stuff on bows but that is COOL!

pamike

that Eagle's head is amazing - WOW!  i would let you do that to my bows ANYTIME. I have to believe you will be getting some requests soon.

How long did that take you?

Wow!  That's beautiful.  I wouldn't let that bow leave the museum!

Thanks again, PAMIKE, I wish I knew how many hours I had into the actual carving, I'm guessing around 40. I have done alot of studying as I went along, looking at what and where to remove, could be 15 hours of study. With this being my go to hunting recurve and only getting one shot I planned my moves carefully. I feel comfortable with saying I could probably reduce the time in half with some confidence and experience.

Beautiful work! You are very talented and brave, I might add!   I'm also curious where you got the knobs for bolting your limbs on?

1screagle

Thank you, I bought the limb bolts from Black Widow, I engraved them myself. I have some ideas for some custom limb bolts I'm going to create soon. That alone can be an awesome addition to many bows. Between wood carving and engraving I'm gonna be pushing hard to create a niche for custom work in the near future. I have so much to learn. Perhaps I can find a bowyer that would be willing to work together to create some unique bows and help my learning curve. I have many ideas that I don't know are good, bad, or ugly, just ideas. I am not a bow builder so I'm not sure about the questions let alone the answers in regards to strength and integrity of the bow concerns. I also know this kind of stuff isn't for everyone, but I also know that most everyone has that one special bow that they would never part with, making it personalized, adding charactor, only adds to the experience and heirloom quality some enjoy. I've been shooting this bow today, it has been enjoyable to look down and feel satisfaction through the artwork. Pretty cool.

I see you put the final detail into the eagle. It looks good Kenn. We can design a riser to fit a piece of art you may want to make. You know it is only a matter of time till you make your first bow. Let me know when you are ready.

Greg, to be honest with you, I really never considered making a bow, artwork and all before this moment. I definately will be giving thought to this concept. I've had thoughts about adding to the beauty of others, why I havn't pursued making my own before this is a good question. Probably fear again, maybe it's time to tackle that fear!
