That deer is over 200 on the hoof for sure and maybe dressed.  He's a hog.  Tiny little antlers though. I would've shot him just to cure his inferiority complex.

John, that was my guess too, 225 to 250 on hoof, wish I'd weighed last years buck, bro and I could barely move him.

Seeing how I haven't been offered a shot all season, yet, I would not have been asking myself that question. I have been thru enough pain and suffering...something must die.

A very nice buck, however it is totally your decision whether or not to take a shot.

Second guessing is only viable if this particular buck presents another shot opportunity. And then again, you make the same decision.

Im a meat hunter but i pased a little 2 yo 8 pt last week just cause i know what his daddy looks like, Neighbor kid shot Dad opening week. His first buck (with a crosbow grrrr) so i know in a few years the buck will be huge. Gave me a perfect shot at 18 yards for about 20 min chewing on their corn pile... Just couldnt do it. So dont feel bad. But its hard for me not to shoot when i have the chance. cant eat horns...

David, they will be in late this week. Bucks are showing day lite now, saw 8 in 3 sits last weekend.  

I would pass him up. But if it was the last day and fading light I would have taken him. I'm only saying this because there is bigger boys roaming where I hunt. Nutz

If you're passing up bucks like that, I can't wait to see what kind of deer your hunting grounds can produce!  Three legs and a heartbeat's usually big enough for me!
