As you can see, the weather changed; by the hour!

One word...the mosquitoes were terrible!! along with a species of black fly called the "white socks" because of the white on their legs.
These little critters were Awful! from first light until last light and even after dark; these beasties were almost unbearable at times.

a lichen/moss covered ridge that I was hunting, waiting for moose to come out of the bog below.
I shot a grouse off of that ridge, it sailed off the cliff and into the spruce bog, thought it would be easy to find.
It wasn't. :)

One day Serge an I decided to look for a lake that was on the GPS, the going was almost impossible at times, thick alders, willows and boggy muskeg along with downed timber made it a hard, bug-infested trudge.
But we made it and found a Shangri-la moose lake!

All kinds of moose trails thru the weeds. We found a high spot and lots of moose trails thru it.

Serge and I out of the bugs, looking over our new find.
Jim meanwhile was back in the cut, battling the flying hordes  ;)

We found an abandoned 12' aluminum boat, turned upside down, after scraping moss and years of duff out of it, it was very sound.
the last certification on it was 1972.
could have been used after that, but we cut a trail for it to the lake thru alot of brush.
Was it left by moose hunter? poachers? native hunters?? we will never know, but if we go back, a small outboard will go with us.   :)

This is the stuff we had to cut thru, then the next day after the morning hunt, we took it out for a spin.

Jim, shooting in camp, the man makes a fine , rough and tough twig, and he is a pretty good shot with it too!
