Shoe Goo has proven to be head and shoulders above Barge Cement for me.

I use the weldwood contact cement.  And it will come off with alot of finger and thumb rubbing.  Barge is also good.

Double sided tape for me get the industrial strength for outdoor use. Works great, fast and no mess.

Dave,

The next time your in Fenton go to Michaels and buy some Therm O Web PeelnStick double sided tape. It is paper thin and works great. I use it to re-attach old rest and strike plates all the time.

Double sided tape, works well, easy to remove, doesn't harm the bow. But it is thicker than using barge cement so use a thin rest.
Same here. Double sided carpet tape. The roll I have will last me the rest of my life. I also buy scrap leather from a local leather shop. I can make my own peel-and-stick leather pieces to shape and from various leathers/thicknesses.

I use all of the abouve except ShooGOO and the tape Mr.Shanks speeks of. I will try them both as I just had to repair a shoe for my daughter and that big ole tube cost me $6 for the squirt I needed.

I like the tape as it is clean and simple to use. I did have a learning curve to get it the way I likeed it tho.

I use Shoo-Goo. I use to use Barge Cement and it works great, but one time I couldn't find Barge Cement and bought a tube of Shoo-Goo. It holds just as well as barge Cement but is MUCH easier to remove just by rolling up into a ball with your fingers.

DURO all purpose spray adhesive, you can get it at the big lumber store. The adhesive does not harden it stays tacky. Spray it on the back of the rest material, holds tight but and is easy to clean off the shelf if you decide to change rest material.

This is the stuff I use and it works great! Goes on white and dries clear and any excess just peels right off. I have used this stuff for everything from leather projects to fixing things around the house..Henry

X2 on Loctite, but I use the Multipurpose in the blue tube.

I don't know this for a fact but I think the LocTite, Barge, ShooGoo (which is great stuff, I have shoes that are more Good than Shoo now) are all basically the same stuff, just different viscosities. The ShooGoo is too thick for strike plates and rests IMHO. The LocTite is thinner but not too thin and holds just as well and like the others, stays flexible so you can pry it off when you need to.
