Ok, for the folks who live in states where it's illegal, are you willing to lobby to change this?

Michigan, it's illegal? Funny, I remember kids shootin them at the GLLI in Marshall, Mi. back  in the days!

I also remember someone stating, they could'nt shoot turtles with a bow.

Seems folks get so caught up with whitetails, that the FUN huttin' get's lost in it all!

Back in the mid 80's we had some folks get ticketed for bowhunting frogs in the Canton, Il area. The wording of the regulations at the time left a lot to interpretation. Bows were not listed as illegal nor were they listed as legal.

Our state bow hunting organization questioned the DNR on this and was able to get it listed as legal. When I asked the director about this he told me when the regs were written bows had not been considered and no one had asked about it. There was no legitimate reason for not allowing bows and it was a simple matter to rewrite the regs with no legislative action required.

From that experience that same year we also got a couple of other things changed simply by asking for it. Picking up and keeping shed antlers on private property, and bowhunting waterfowl.

In those states where bowhunting frogs is now illegal it wouldn't hurt to make enquiries with your DNR. Unless they have legitimate reasons for keeping it illegal, you may not have a season simply because no one has asked for it.

very good thread tom, has it always been illegal in michigan and nebraska? or did something make them change the law

No I won't lobby against it here.. Without protection you won't find a frog around here with legs big enough to eat.. They are hard enough to find anyway.

Jeremy,, The drop tine aka Blade is long since demised.. the drops have been mounted but I believe the head is somewhere in Florida..

Pheasants around here are few and far between.. Now turkeys are a different story.

Thanks for the offer and if it was a tad closer I'd take you up on a frog hunt.

Legal here if you have a hunting license, and a 15 per day limit
