I stepped out of the truck to put on my final layer of wool pants.. Pull them over my boots only to realize that I stepped in the biggest pile of coyote poop.It is now all over my boots, pants, hands, and vest.. I had to strip down and put on my early season camo and light boots  that are still in the truck. It is 29 degrees out. I figured I wouldn't make it long without warm clothes.. And it turned out I didn't need to.I  Had a doe come in at first light and she is down in sight. What a funny turn of events.... I still smell terrible!!

It was a beautiful morning otherwise. The shot was about 12 yards. My arrow entered the shoulder but under the scapula, and exited low and tight to the shoulder on the far side.

I was shooting my Zipper SXT #52@29 with 190gr Grizzly Instincts

Luckily it wasn't another bow hunter that left you that gift. Congratulations on the doe.

Maybe it brought good luck to you......   :biglaugh:   If she's down in sight it must have been a great shot......well done!
In the beginner's mind there are many possibilities. In the expert's there are few...So the most difficult thing is always to keep your beginner's mind...This is also the real secret of the arts: always be a beginner.  Shunryu Suzuki

Some of the more fanatical among us use cow piles the same way intentionally.  Which raises the question is a predator's poop less effective as a cover than "Ol' Bossie's"?  That debate will occupy those of us under "house arrest" today...but I'd suggest removing those boots at the door!

P.S. the used tampon thing will work, but don't even think about going there...don't ask how I know!

Congrats on the doe and thanks for the great story. I'm happy for you but I'm not going to try to replicate your new cover scent experiment.

I've adopted too many bows that needed a good home.

Thanks for the comments.. Not a pleasant surprise in the dark. It may be my own fault as I left my last deer carcass on the overgrown logging road where I park since the coyotes run it nightly... So they were just thanking me I guess.
