ground blind heater

Im getting a ground blind this fall
Id like to do some winter hunting but cant take the cold like I use too.
Any recommendations on a heater?
Something that wont spook deer?
I saw a video on a coffee can heater with a 3 wick candle.
Heard it but off a surprising amount of heat.

Just wondering.

Probably the easiest, best, and most reliable solution is a Mr. Heater Lil Buddy propane heater.

Uses the small propane tanks you can pick up from most Sporting Goods places

It's very portable. If you decide to leave your blind out, you can keep the heater inside it and store an extra tank or two. Lights easily and puts out plenty of warmth for a blind or small tent.

Depending on how often you use it, two tanks could last the season.

No mess either.

Make sure you crack open a few windows to make sure you keep the risk of CO poisoning from happening.

Yes they are quiet , I would suggest little buddy for smaller pop up blinds , the Big Buddy will be too warm .
If you do buy one pay a little more and get the gas line filter.

you may want to try the blind without a heater first. They're a lot warmer than being outside, just blocking wind is a huge help and they trap body heat as well. Although I wouldn't complain if I had a little help from an extra heat source too.

Get yourself a 0 degree sleeping bag and a zippo hand warmer like this one.

Place the hand warmer in the bag, kick off your boots and snuggle up. So much cheaper and warm for hours.

You are in the blind so the deer will never see the bag and there is no chance for Co poisoning.

With this system you will also enjoy being comfy in less layers.

Coleman Blackcat catalytics are quite portable and supposedly safer than other types of heaters for enclosed areas.

This is the baby, Lil' Buddy heater. For late season December get the extending hose and run it under the side of the blind to a 20# tank outside

I have an old coleman gasoline wick (tent heater). It is called that, but it can kill anything near it with fumes.  I have used it for an open air heater.  I put it under and behind a chair. It is very important even then to keep the wind in your face.  I also have a propane tent heater, that too, needs lots of ventilation. This year on one cold day, I set up a ghillie half round blind, I found a five gallon open end bucket that I thought maybe one day would make a seat.  It made a great container for a stick fire and it warmed my area right up.  Apparently, deer don't mind a little smoke.

This is very very important if using bulk propane, you will ruin the crystal in the pilot valve very quickly, you can buy them straight from the company that makes the heater. There are several companies that are making back packing sized wood stoves if you have wood available. I seen one the other day about the size of a six pack of beer.

I have a big buddy and love it.  It has multiple heat settings and can hold 1 or 2 small 16oz propane bottles.  Nice having the extra btu's if needed.  I use it in my garage too.  It has a blower that is battery operated and fairly quiet.  Rarely do i use the blower.

Yup. Big Buddy heater. You can turn it down to just one burner if it gets too hot.  Been using one for quite a few years now.  With the twenty lb propane bottle it lasts all season.

I have the one that Ron posted, but I also have the smaller model MH4B that looks sort of like an old 6 volt flashlight. You wont be disappointed with either one, but I really love the smaller one because of its compact size and lighter weight and plenty of heat.
