So a long wait ended in an amazing surprise with the arrival of a custom vintage bow works 59 hybrid recurve. From the pics on the website I knew I was in store for a real beauty, and sure enough Scott produced a real stunner. Sorry about the poor pic quality from inside. The photo bug caught me so decided to snap a few photos and share. Will try to get some more soon with some sunlight to really make her glimmer. Riser is ziricote, redwood burl i-beam, black glass back, spalted maple overlays, and burnt orange stained birdseye maple belly.

Beautiful  bow. Those 2 woods look great together

Outstanding!  Makes the new Purpleheart Bear look sad!

Beautiful, but why is it called a hybrid? The 59 was/is a recurve. Does it have longbow limbs?  Limb tips aren't shown.
The years accumulate on old friendships like tree rings, during which time a kind of unspoken care and loyalty accrue between men.

Scott is an artist and I must own one someday.  Truly world class work.  Fred would grin.

It's a tweak on the '59 design. They make a '59 repo but this one has some design elements of the '60-'61's and is said to be a little smoother.

Ah, OK, thanks, JimB.  That sure is a pretty bow.

Gorgeous! They make some of the nicest bows there are.

I can't remember the exact time anymore but in the ball park of 3 years. Give or take a bit. Totally worth it though!

I have never understood why Bear chose to call their new Kodiak design a reproduction of the 1959 Kodiak...it is as much a 1960 design with the glass overlays and tips as it is 59...and besides when one sees the differences between original bows one quickly realizes that there is no such thing as a 1959 or 1960 Kodiak configuration...those bows were hand finished to widely varying specs so it only makes sense that a modern bowyer would add their own touch to a repro...your bow got quite a few added touches...very nice

I set out a while ago to reduce my herd of 40 bows...And I am finally down to 42
