The perfect longbow

Does it exist? I know there are a lot of individual preference and field of use to consider, but is it possible to make The Perfect Longbow?

To me, the perfect Longbow would be 64" long....50-52 lbs at my draw length (26.25")...be whisper quiet and arrows going where I was looking..

My perfect longbow would 68" long pulling 45# at 29" cause my shoulders are getting tired.

there is no perfect bow, impossible question to answer.

we can have opinions though so in my lifetime so far I think the #1 longbow I ever seen, shot, or held was a Jack harrison siberian Wolf and El Lobo.
2nd was the Saxon Hawk "Take down" model which resembled the Siberian with that Mogolian riser style but for me these have been the best!!!

and Nope I don't currently own one, as of present time theres no way I can single one bow out of my collection and say its better than the others,, I have a selfbow I think cannot be beat, I have a Hill style that I think is the best HHC ever made, I have what I think is the best "soft" R/D longbow being made today, and of course I have a T/D recurve that performance wise I say nothing being offered now for any price shoots better, oh and not to leave out the 50's style recurves which I think one of the best hangs in my man cave.

it all comes down to opinions these days and mine is just another one in the mix,, it is cool seeing what people will say is the best though.

I have shot and owned a lot of long bows and for me it is a PLX but that may not be for everyone, to each his own.

Actually, with all the different string material available, a perfect longbow can be made into a miserable, shocky, slow, piece of junk, and the fore mentioned piece of junk can be made "perfect" just depending on the string you put on it.

The perfect bow of any kind is too dependent on the individual. Thats why you see people raving about the bow the just got then in a few months it's in the Classifieds. People jump on the wagon of the latest and greatest but find it doesn't fit their body or style. So you just have to buy and try or find a bowyer who will build to match your style.

I agree with BenBow. Find one that fits and it is up to you to know what fits. Over the years I have learned my draw length, grip size, best bow length. Now it is just how fancy or common do I want it to look and how long am I willing to wait.

Mike G,  this is a perfect bow thread...

Kidding dude.  The prefect string is only made perfect by the perfect bow,  one bow design might do better with Dacron, another might do better with Dyna flight, or TS-2 etc.  

But in my professional opinion (and not to mention, somewhat humble opinion) a well made Dyna flight -10 string with it's mass and thickness kept to the minimum that'll work on a particular draw weight and such, is hard to beat.  D-97 taking a close second place.

I agree with Mike on all counts. The string is huge with arrows being right there to, and D10 kicks butt!

The truth of the matter is all the better glass bowyers use all the same material on forms so similar its real hard to even decipher each without reading the limb or noticing something small in the grip or tips that is tell tale of the builder. Finish work is what separates them more than anything else in my mind.
