Seems like I read some where that a filed "rough" edge like micro serated is desireable. The instructions on the Snuffer package described a rough filed edge as performing well on game. Anyone used this approach instead of the mirror like honed edge? What was the result?

There are shades of "rough" what I think is meant is that it is just not a polished edge. A file sharpened broadhead should still be shaving sharp.

Check out a couple of the threads archived here. Charlie and Tom each have great tutorials on file sharpening heads.              Grant

As long as the serrations are paralell to the shaft they seem to do a great job.Thats how Ive done mine with a file and got a butter smooth passthrough on a big doe as well as a ton of testing in wet plywood, cedar planks and bales of carpet.Good luck.

Lots of good threads here on Tradgang about this subject. I'm sure a search will turn up a bunch of info.

Personally, I've used both; like both equally well, still use both, noticed no difference in performance between the two.

Dr. Ashby goes into great detail on this subject in his 2004 report. You can find it in the Ashby reports under-
