What do you all like for shelf material. I am looking for the quietest when drawing the bow.

X3 on the Velcro for the shelf. I use stick on moleskin for the strike plate. I did this after I shot and missed a buck early this year. Completely my fault I simply missed and the buck didn't jump the string or anything but I was amazed at how loud my bow was in the woods with the leather shelf and strike plate. Super quiet now!

I had one bow with seal skin on the shelf and I thought it was the quietest material I have used.

Have been pleased with velcro for many many years.

I have and do put velcro on my recurves and R/D. For the vixen I used a single piece of smooth leather to make the rest and strike plate, but thats just because I made a quiver from the same material and it matches. Plus the design seemed more fitting for the type of bow. But it is really hard to beat the soft velcro for economy, looks, and longevity. A roll from a hobby shop will set you up for plates and rests for a loooong time.

I have been using leather for sometime now. This year how ever on two different outings deer heard me draw. Which resulted in very nervous deer and no shots.

I use Velcro on my bow fishing bow. But, I like a rug rest on everything else. Very quiet.

Calf hair on the Thunderchild and velcro on the rest.

Velcro may never receive its due acclaim since it is so inexpensive and widely available.

Then on the other hand, when we see a host of the finest bows, including those approaching two grand, we may quite frequently find that velcro was the bowyer's shelf material of choice.

Has any body mentioned Velcro yet ? I have tried many rests and shelf materials , just can't beat Velcro .

Ditto on the velcro, and while you're at it buy the "Industrial Strength".

I just use a small hunk of smooth leather, and stick a small wooden match underneath it to raise the arrow just a hair.
