Well, our season opened up this weekend and Saturday a cold front rolled through also. Friday was in the 90's and Saturday and Sunday I found my tee shirt was a touch chilly sitting in the shaded woods at first light and late evening.

Our deer have changed patterns a few weeks ago and are now strictly off the beans and in the acorns. This stand was in the corner of a large bean field in a stand of chinkapin and white oak trees that were dropping.

Here are a couple video's of one that read the script last night.

Nice video's TJ.  We've got 3 weeks to go here in MI before we get started. I do have some management permits for the farm that I can harvest does with right now, but with temps in the 80's, I don't want anything to spoil before I can get it taken care of.  We northerners are a little spoiled in that regard.

This week end for me, I use the same bear paw glove felt like I was in the stand 5 days early.  I probably would have dropped the string though!  Good luck!

Okay TJ, this is the season you need to make the Zero-dark-thirty blood tracking video featuring a head-to-head comparison of an LED, incandescent, and Coleman lantern for the non-believers!  Heck,if I had a good camera man I'd make it myself, but I hunt and drink like George Thorogood...alone.

I wish I had the cold front in Lewis county. It was high 80's and super humid. I saw a bunch of deer sign, but no deer.

Amazing the number of people who don't hunt early. It has become my favorite time of the year. I had three within 10 yards opening day. Good strong NW breeze they came out early from corn to beans.

They were likely going to water as ponds are spread out. Fence row small woodlot bucks. A few more weeks they disappear or so it seems.

Great stuff as usual TJ !!!     Looking forward to more posts from you this fall.

Benjy, I used my iphone for this video. It does well close but struggle past 30 yards. Which is to be expected from a lens the size of a pea.

When I'm in serious video mode I use my Canon T3i and its better lens'.
