Hey Guy's you like parabolic or shield cut for hunting also what size 4 or 5 inch 3 feathers or 4....??

Jim Wright

Either shape works fine. My own experience is that Parabolics are consistently quieter than Shields, especially if they are cut or burned high profile. I have shot arrows with 4 feathers but only fletch mine with three 5" feathers, if it ain't broke.......

nineworlds9

I don't mind using either but I simply prefer shields for looks.  I like 3 x 5".  I've actually had good success with 2-fletch using 2 x 5" shields as well.

Three 4 inch shields on my FMJ...three 5 inch shields on my 2317's

I set out a while ago to reduce my herd of 40 bows...And I am finally down to 42

Sam McMichael

I prefer shields based solely on looks. I use three 5" feathers on my arrows.

I also prefer shield based on looks. I have 4 inch feathers but mostly shoot 5 inch and actually I don't notice the difference between the 4 and 5 inch feathers.

I prefer shields, and I personally don't see (hear) any difference in noise between the two.  I shoot either 3 fletch with 5.5" feathers or 4 fletch with 4" feathers.

bigbadjon

I prefer parabolics. I generally shoot 4 fletch.

Strictly three 5" shields for everything. I plan on trying some two 5" shield for small game arrows. I also only shoot wood shafts.

I have tried both types and parabolic is definitely quieter. Right now Im using 4 x 5" parabolic... I'm thinking about 4 x 4"

Dog Walker

I use both. Shields on arrows indoors, for looks only. I found parabolics take more abuse when hunting, especially in my bow quiver going through bush and tall grass. The tips of the shields get pretty beat up in those cases.

Might be my imagination but I think Parabolic are quieter so that is what I use.

I fletched up one arrow with two fletch, my feathers are all 4" or 5.5" so I used two 5.5" shields.  That arrow flies superbly.

I prefer 5" Parabolics for everything except my Bear Hunting arrows. I fletched them up with 5.5" High Back shields more stability with my 160 gr Snuffers.

I like both. I always use what I have on hand.

I find parabolics quieter and shields look cooler, either work well. Usually use 4x4 or 4x5. Sometimes 4x2.5 with high foc.
shoot straight shoot often

3X4 inch parabolics work well for me.

stujay

parabolic, quieter.
I'm using 5" RW of late.
