I am looking for information on Black African wood as a riser material. I am curious to know is it considered a heavy or med weight wood. Also has anyone used this wood for riser material before? If so could you please post some pictures? Thanks in advance..

If you're refering to "Ebony" its heavy and used all the time. Don't need to post pictures just look at something totally black, with maybe a few light streaks in it.

I like to use Google images.  I put in the name of the wood.  What you typically get are sample photos from suppliers and pictures of other things made from that wood.

Jesse,
I have blackwood in my shop now, but it is Brazilian Blackwood.  Beautiful wood and very heavy.  This wood is also very curly.  No pictures, sorry.
