anyone ever fill a XX75 for additional weight and sound dampening?
I was wondering what you use not to affect spine?
I was thinking paracord?

I have never weighted aluminum shafts but paracord works on carbon shafts.

Years ago there was an article in the old Instinctive Archer magazine about reducing the noise in aluminum arrows by filling them with plugs made, as I recall, from the foam typically found in computer packaging.  I believe the author claimed that the foam did indeed reduce the noise without noticeably changing the spine.  I seem to also recall reading about unsuccessful efforts to achieve the same results using expanding spray foam(cracked the shafts) and various liquids(leaked).

Tape up weed eater line about 12 inches.  If you want more forward, use one strand full lenght, but put other 12 inch pieces up front.  The tape will keep the line from rsttling

After reading this about the paracord I went straight to the garage to try it, no problem gaining 120gr with my carbon arrows. I have no idea if it could cause nocks to pop out on solid hits? It weakened my spine slightly but with that kind of mass gain I wouldn't hesitate to just shoot a lighter tip. I don't have any aluminums to try it on but I would think it would work?? Beau J

Yep,styrofoam peanuts that we rolled up tight in your hand, then inserted in the shaft and tamped down with a long metal rod.Wasn't worth the manhours.
Have seen foam backer tubing at our local hardware store. You cut and stuff in cracks to save caulk.Cheap..but smallest size is 3/8s.
Wonder if they'd consider 5/16s for us trad guys?

i have used nylon cord with excellent results, heat one end and kinda taper it i use a long pc of bailing wire to insert it with,if its a tight fit..   weed eater cord also works well
