Just finished up these cane arrows and stone points that I'm planning on hunting with this year.

Lots of firsts...first selfbow, first attempt at cane arrows, first points I've knapped that I felt were good enough to hunt with, first fletchings I've done with self processed and hand mounted turkey feathers.

Looking for critique and input...

The 2 dark heads are raw texas rock, the white one is MO Burlington.

Well, who'da thunk it!

Here's the last pic.....

I know they aren't as nice as many I've seen on here, but hopefully I can do my part and they will do the job on a deer for me.

I see no problems with any of it. As long as the arrows fly well from the bow there is no reason you can't achieve yet another first!  Happy hunting!     Pat

I think that if there is any justice at all, you will be rewarded with the results you (and I) are trying so hard for this year. Darned nice work and best of all possible luck, Shawnee.

No cams, for a much better expanation than I can give, check out this thread in the "How To" section:

Mickey does a great job of explaining the process.

For mine, I cut the slots with a bandsaw, and sanded them a little to match up with each individual point.  I glued the heads with pine pitch/charcoal, then wrapped them with deer back sinew.  Added a small drop of superglue, to make sure the sinew didn't come loose.

Make sure the heads are mounted true, and you should have no problems.

I did go back and add another sinew wrap after I took the pictures.  I don't want them coming loose if I happen to hit a rib or something.
Well, who'da thunk it!

Thanks Bernie, I appreciate it.  Been following along with some of your latest endeavors, too.  You have been one busy man lately.

Are you planning on hunting with the cane arrows you made earlier this year?

How's the knapping coming along?  I never have time to knap as much as I want, but still banging on the rocks every chance I get.
Well, who'da thunk it!

Nice work, and definitely something to be proud of.  I agree with what Bernie said, if theres any justice you'll be rewarded for your hard work.  Good luck this season.

They look real good..should work fine. Looks to me like maybe you could fade the end of the shafts a bit more on the points to give a smoother point to shaft transistion. JMO

Are the arrows close in weight overall? The points look like they may very a bit and it could effect how each one shoots for you.

Thanks all...

The tip on fading the ends is just the kind of stuff I'm looking for.

Looks like a deadly setup to me Clint, the best of luck to ya buddy. Nice job on the fletching you can hardly tell they are wrapped with sinew.

I am sorry if I missed some information on your very effective looking primative archery tackle. But, I'll need to know a little more before I let you have exactly what you have asked for.

I'd like to see the limb tips on the bow, and could you tell us the specs on both, arrows and bow?

It looks by the nock on your string that you have the BEAST tuned in and have been shooting it a bit? If so, does the bow shoot out to 20 yards, with much authority?

Is the arrow flight consistent in all 3 of your arrows, and are you shooting off you knuckle?

I got a few more but my Daughter wants on the computer,,, I'll check back later.
