Hey guys I am about to order some surewood shafts for my bamboo backed hickory bow i just built. I am wondering which spine to use. I am currently shooting a 28 3/4" heritage 150 shaft with 175 grains up front. They shoot pretty well. My bow is around 55# at 28" and is cut to center. I am shooting a B55 string. I would like to use a 175 grain point on my wood arrows. Thanks for any help, SS.

id start with a test kit if they offer one. that way you can play with different lenghts and weights. but if no test kit is offered maybe start with a 60-65# range an dplay with they lenght.

I would suggest 70-75's for your set up if your draw is at least 28" ... I think the 60-65's would be a bit weak ...

I don't think so for a self-bow (laminated though it may be, no glass) and dacron string and 28-inch or less draw.  I'd go with a 60-65# as well.  Test pack is a good idea when switching to wood. Of course, the folks at Surewood should be able to help you decide.

You might want to try a couple different spines. With it being a selfbow AND laminated AND cut to center it could be a little tricky. I'd try some 65/70 and 70/75 with those 175gr points.

On my bamboo backed osage I have to shoot about 10# spine over my draw weight to get a good flight with 135grn heads. If you are going to add that much weight you might want 15# over on the spine.
I have 6 bamboo backed bows and all run about the same trend.
