so I let the bait sit for a while.  brown bear season ended on the first.  I went up to the site Thursday.  to my not so much surprise the place was a mess the barrel was half flat.  I changed the memory card and began to walk out.
When I was almost to my wheeler I heard a crack, I paused to listed, then I saw brown moving below me.  It was a very large boar.  at 80 yards I watched him lay down in some grass and begin to feed.  I might be a little crazy but I thought the wind is good lets see if I could get in bow range.  Once I got to 20 yards I decided im probably just asking for it.  so I sat and watched for 20 min.  The second the wind swirled once he was up and off.
when I checked the camera I was pleasantly surprised that the blackies started hitting right on cue.

these are two separate loner bears.
and the third and largest one has tree kitten sized cubs.

I also caught that big boy moving through.

ill be hunting tonight to see if I can get a look at some of the blackies.  I assume my main weapon will be a video camera.

Too bad the hide got chewed up...that bear would make a heck of a full body mount and still save a few bucks because most taxidermists work off the length for pricing...make sure to show us what you guys end up with for both bears in terms of taxidermy work...and congratulations for all the hard work you guys put into the hunt and taking us along

I set out a while ago to reduce my herd of 40 bows...And I am finally down to 42

At a glance I thought it was Chuck Norris that killed that Brown bear up top.  Congratulations on the bear and thanks for bringing us along.

much to green and the fish are in the kenai so a lot of the mountain bears are moving down.  the avalanche shoots are no longer the only food source and the bushes that are in the shoots are fully leafed.

jrchambers

well the bait has been a bear mecca the last three days,  3 or 4 blacks with one good one, and atleast 5 browns coming in at all times of the day.  I just dumped a load of bait and walked up on one of the smaller blacks.  btw there is a absolute monster of a brown in there every 3 days.  he makes a 9 footer look like a puppy.
ill be sitting tonight.  hope to get some video of the browns or a shot at the big black

I have 1500 trail cam pics I would like to put up but it is too much work filtering out the 5 or so I want to put up.

it is not that hard to isolate small quantities from LOTS of pics. I do it when I go through my elk trail cam pics and sometimes I get hundreds and hundreds of them from July until Sept. I think 1300+ was my all time high on one chip that I had left out for three or four weeks.
