jrchambers, congratulations.I've enjoyed this thread from the beginning. It sounds like you did everything perfectly and what a beautiful bear.I'll just throw something out for you to think about, but those fight pictures look more like pre-breeding behavior to me and the other bear looks like a sow.

I don't think you said but, your bear was a boar?It seems way early for that behavior but it still looks that way to me.Just a thought.Maybe one of your buddies will find out for sure.

Great job!

Truely an amazing thread.  That is a noble beast and impressive accomplishment.  At 55 years old I'll probably never get to do this myself, thanks for the ride.

well my buddy is still looking.  he said that he has blood for 70 yards and then it quit.  Im starting to get a bit worried as it is 70 degrees today.  im afraid he got liver and a lung.  he said the arrow disappeared, but he hasn't found the shaft yet.  I might take my dogs in there tomorrow.
The guy hunting my site didn't see anything last night,  he is going to try again tonight because I heard a rumor that the season is soon to be closed

Great hunt and thanks for sharing!  That's prime area that you're in.  I used to fish down by the college when I lived up there.  I sure miss it.

Nice going JR!

They better not close the season, I have three friends coming the last week of May!

Luke is checking our furthest bait to the North on his way back to ANC, no call in a few more minutes should mean a hit and a sit. Other two aren't hit yet but will be soon no doubt.

I had shoulder surgery so I am pretty much out of the game his spring.
