Anyone doing rabbit, squirrel?
Havent seen a lot lately
I guess the rut has everyone occupied.

Been really windy here in Ohio and the squirrels havent been out much.

I was out last weekend and saw a ton of squirrels. There used to be many more, but two red tails moved in and almost wiped em out, including chipmunks.

I have a heavy population of red tails in my area.
But I see a lot of chipmunks.
Maybe they dont taste as good.

Loads of squirrels here in FL.  Last three hunts could have tried for limit, but I still rather bag a deer or pig.

Roadkill

We hunt on horse ranches-as they want the rabbits not eating hay or the strings that hold bails together.  Last couple years we had tons of oportunity, this year only one ranch of the five has huntable numbers.

We are looking for new horse farms to hunt.  At the end of the season last year we noticed fleas in great numbers with tapeworms in the digestive tract, also pus sacks in the muscle =-skin interface.  We are wondering if that had anything to do with decline in numbers or ifthe dry winter and sspring contributed.  WE have about teh same numbers of owl, hawk and yote population from what we can see.  Maybe just a down year....WE are fanatics about chasing rabbits with longbows and this looks to be a bad year for us-we do not have tree squirrels-but then, we do not have a lot of trees that would suport them.
Cast a long shadow-you may provide shade to someone who needs it.  Semper Fi
