Yes, I got my first deer from the ground.

Monday Sept 10th @ 7:00am I was in the woods and I come up on 2 DOEs & 3 Fawns. I was about 50yards away and came to full draw. As I was letting it back down I had a feeling I can make the shot. I then redrew the bow & loosed a arrow. It hit her little far back in the ponch and out the otherside taking out the sack, liver & both lunges. I found the deer 2.5hrs later so to be safe I gave it to a friend that has to many dogs, since it is really hot out and she was gut shot ( I mean she looked like a bomb went off in her ) This was my first deer from the ground with a bow.. Man I don't want to go up a tree anymore LOL. Sitting here thinking as I type I feel really bad for taking that far of a shot...I still need to find my arrow.

I am now after the 10 pointer that was under my stand on Opening Day..Good Luck to everyone else.

Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.

Goodbye Shiner you were always a good dog.

**DONOTDELETE**

Thanx Guys.... God I feel bad for taking that far of a shot.

I made a mistake my ranger find is off. I just used my friends and it came out to 30yards, but still it was to far and I shouldn't have taken the shot... It did look closer, but now I know for sure & I do feel a little better.. I also found my arrow.

No worries Sal . Experience is a series of non fatal accidents. Learn, move on .

Good job.  My brother and I also hunted from the ground, but only saw bucks.  That never happens.  Poor us.

Congrats on your first eye level deer.  I have never used a treestand, and can barely sit still long enogh for a blind.  If you are really into the ground thing, I highly reccommend Asbell's stalking and stillhunting book.  Just learning "how" to walk will make a huge difference.  The fun of stalking on the ground is to see how close you can get, when you can watch them blink with your bare eyes, and nearly smell their breath, it is an unparalled rush.  My closest shot has been 8 feet, my first black bear was around 8 yards, and my furthest shot was around 13 yards.  Again congrats on your deer, stalking them is like nothing else on Earth!

Congrats as well.  I would not feel bad, the meat was not wasted.

I'm sure we've all made shots that we thought hard about in retrospect-

I still do not understand why ya gave the deer away. It would of been fine!! Ya also should of went with your first thought and let down and not shot if that was your first gut feeling. Glad it worked out! Shawn

deer sled is about 6years old and is great, the wheelie ones are better, but mine is light & you can wrap it around a tree and the deer pay it no mind...

I stopped shaking about 2 hrs ago.
