Hey all,

I have never had a quiver on my bow, but after thinking about all the different ways of carrying the gear I want to take, I think it would be the easiest and most simple.  SO, I think I'd like to give one a try. I have both a Longbow and a couple of Recurves so I want one that will easily mount and work on all of my bows.  I don't need hand tooled leather or anything fancy like that, just a quiver to hold my arrows.  If I knew I would like it and it was what I would stay with, yeah, I'd get a nice one.  Until then, I want to get something inexpensive that works well to try and see how I like it.

I haven't thought too much about how many arrows I would want to carry.  I guess it would be 4 or 5, I don't know.  What do you all suggest is a good number to carry?  Maybe 3 arrows would be enough.  How about tossing in some advice on this choice?  I'll defer to your experience on this one.

What are some good choices I should check out that don't cost a lot of money?

PICS are also welcome as it would be better to see the quiver mounted on your bows with the arrows.

Thank you for your time and help.

I have several bow quivers. I like them better than shoulder quivers but I don't leave any on the bow once I arrive on stand. I don't practice with them on the bow either. I don't like the weight or the balance impacts.

The quiver I'm using this season on my TT Titan is very modern.  It is a G5 low profile, 6-arrow quiver.

I only carry 4-5 arrows in it but I like the extra space between arrows. I chose this quiver over Northerns, Widows, Habu and others I own because of its low profile but mainly because of the how easy (simple lever) it is to remove and reapply.  This quiver requires the quiver insert screws on the riser though.

I hunt from the ground moving through cover and need my arrows out there in front of me not to catch on branches, etc... I like the Thunderhorn Mini Boa strap-on quiver... Can get them in four or five arrow types... Might even find one used on this site for a good price... Can be adjusted for limb size... Very quiet and of great quality.

I don't think they fit the description of "inexpensive", but I love my Great Northern quivers! I use the Quick Mount on my takedowns and the strap on on my one-piece bows.

I like the Kwikee Kwiver, but want to try a Kanati slim.

if you want one you can put on different bows, either a thunderhorn (prairie drifter is right...the boa version from 3 rivers is cheapest) or a Big Jim...I am interested in the Barta Quiver myself...Just like a 6 arrow thunderhorn, but with 2 additional spots for judo's or blunts on the outside of the hood.

I like the Selway "slip on" Stick Quivers.

I take a coffee cup of hot water, then add a good squirt of liquid dish detergent. Soap up the limbs & slide the 2 quiver sections down past the fade-outs. (I'm alittle "anal" and measure from quiver to limb tip and make them even on both limbs) Wipe off the excess soapy watter with a warm, damp cloth, and hang horizontal overnight..... The next morning, you'll think the quiver is glued in place, and it WILL NOT vibrate loose!!! I leave them on our hunting bows (old Bear Grizzlys) all year long...

Just one old Woodchucker's suggestion.....
I only shoot WOOD arrows... My kid makes them, fast as I can break them!

Big jim makes a great one.  Even if you don't like stuff on your bow, give it a try.  I don't "like" the extra weight/stuff on the bow, but I actually shoot better with it on there.

I use kanati quivers on my recurves, and I leave them on while hunting/shooting. I prefer an over the shoulder side quiver when using a longbow.

I have a big jims bow quiver and i have 2 complaints about it.  I have the 5 arrow quiver.  It is nice quality, great craftsmanship, great price, I just don't like how flimsy the quiver is while on your bow.  When you strap it on(even as tight as you can get it) it will turn on you a little and can cause your arrows to slightly work their way loose.  I am looking to how to fix the issues i'm having, but i have no found any yet.

I like two and will most likely be selling a popular side quiver.

To me, Great Northern is the ticket for a bow with side bushings or a t/d, all others......Eagle Flight.  Given the option, get the totem.  Best small quiver out there.

I've tried all kinds, makes, and models of quivers. In the end, I went back to the bow quiver simply because of ease of carry. Of all the bow quivers I've used I went back to the Kwikee Kwiver. Yes, I do put the inserts in the risers of my bows and that doesn't bother me a bit. I can put it on or take it off in a snap. I have a bracket that screws into the tree after I get on stand and I slip the quiver into that right where I want it. I have a belt bracket I use when I take out my Hill or small riser longbows. I have 3 different Kwikee hoods (3 arrow, 4 arrow, and 6 arrow) for how many arrows I want to take. I cover the hoods in leather and they look great. You can also pick up used Kwikees and brackets for very reasonable prices. The Kwikee was, and still is, a great quiver.

Kanati vote.  Like adjustability to get it balanced as much as possible.  I leave on bow and practice with quiver on.

But the Great Northern is a very nice one for take-downs.
