The color of the deers poo can tell you what they are feeding on. I am getting mixed signals.

TJ did you do the taste test to narrow it down   :bigsmyl:

Id say, some of it.. Just hit the ground!  You weren't far behind them... No pun intended..  The other is a little older.. Maybe yesterday or so...  In any case, the deer vist there reg... Stay at that spot.. You'll catch up with them..

While i haven't tested the poo, the buck I shot a few days ago was loaded with basket oak acorns.

Not having any luck finding any acorns in this part of  Virginia. Not even Beech nuts. Worst yard for hard mast I can remember. Some fox grapes on the ground.  Deer and Squirrels will have to get food at the Macdonalds drive thru in January this year.
Maybe it is time to shoot what I have on the rack

Hey TJ. Go back in a couple days, those piles should both look the same. I agree with PSH that the olive green pellets look real fresh. I've done the touch test, feeling a pellet to see if it's still warm.......

If the olive green one has the consistency of peanut butter you just missed him or her. The other is just older.

If you do the taste test i think you'll find the darker stuff a bit tougher to chew. the olive green should melt in your mouth....

interesting. I will return to the spot in a few days and see if the green turns black and of course try each for flavor.

Do you have fruit trees in the area? If there's apples or pears around?  Usually you'll get the mushy green type POO.

I agree with the pastor. One pile is fresh and one has oxidized and is older. Reminds me of the old raisinette trick. When showing a newbie the ropes its fun to take a pocket full of raisinettes along. Make like you a picking up some droppings and then eat the raisinettes. Always good for a laugh.

I would expect green browse to be a bit greener than corn or nuts. Kinda like cows on feed or field.
This stuff ain't no rocket surgery science!

I can look at these pics and say confidently that there has either been 1 deer twice or 2 deer that almost pooped in the same spot(at different times).

If it were any fresher it would probably be in the air.

What it's telling me is that the deer are raiding the kids halloween baskets.  The first deer ate all the black jelly beans and the second one ate all the watermellon jelly beans.  :biglaugh:    :biglaugh:    :biglaugh:
